Just like that! Another year is over and we enter a new decade!
It only seemed like yesterday I was finishing off my 2018 round-up which you can see here. I always enjoy putting this post together, it gives me the opportunity to reflect on images I captured whilst noticing areas for improvement, but more importantly remembering all of those amazing times I had at each and every wedding! As a Hampshire wedding photographer, I was lucky enough to shoot all over the country including a trip over to Santorini! 2019 also took me to stately homes, parents back garden’s, a sailing club and a farm! Plus the usual mix of barns, teepees and other cool venues! I absolutely love the variety!
Included in this I have been a second shooter at a handful of weddings, which is always really enjoyable, it’s always a great opportunity when the pressure is off whilst the lead photographer gets the ‘safe shots’. I feel I get so much from working with other photographers.
Sophie and Tommy’s wedding will always be one to remember for sure, their original photographer had an emergency and I had to cover it. After a very quick call from the catering team at the wedding, it was straight into shooting the group photo! Talk about being thrown in at the deep end! It was a cracker of a day, plus we had some of that gorgeous winter light!
It was another great year for my awards cabinet – I managed to bag a load of awards from NineDots and also another one from the amazing This is Reportage. It’s always nice to get recognition from your peers, but to me what it’s really about is the amazing reviews and feedback I receive which you can see here.
Looking to the year ahead, I’m super excited to learn a lot more about videography – well actually try and learn everything as I currently know zilch! I’m also booked on an editing course with a guy called Ross Harvey, he is kinda a big deal in the wedding photography world!
I’ve got lots to look forward to, with a diary which is nearly fully booked 2020 is going to be busy! I am going to be shooting a wedding in France, and taking a trip to Colorado next week!
And finally, and most importantly I must say a big thank you to all my 2019 couples. You’re all fantastic and I’m so so thankful that I got to be a part of your special day! I know the day is still fresh in your memory, as it is for me! Can I say what a privilege it has been to be trusted to play such a special part of your wedding. It’s what makes this the best job in the world.
I hope you enjoy looking back at 2019. If you know anyone looking for a wedding photographer then do pass on my details. Anyway, that’s enough for me, wishing you a Happy New Year. Bring on 2020!
