When Lauren and Ash first got in touch with me about their Winchester tipi wedding, I was so excited – they were planning a really fun outdoor wedding with a city center ceremony at Winchester Registry Office. Lauren and Ash are the loveliest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!
The excitement before the wedding
I began the morning at Lauren’s parents’ house, where the bride and her bridesmaids were getting ready together, and it was really chilled and the drinks were flowing straight away! Lauren wore Catherine Deane dress with a stunning Helen Martin veil.
The wedding took place at Winchester Registry Office and was a beautiful intimate ceremony. They chose The Basing Room which was a perfect match for Laurens bridesmaids dresses! After the ceremony, they were showered with confetti and then the celebrations began.
The wedding reception took place at Pyesmead Farm, which they’d decorated with plenty of handmade items much like Alex and Paul’s outdoor wedding it was so wonderfully personalised. It was a sunny, cloudless day, while the guests enjoyed canapes and drinks, the couple mingled and laughed with their friends. For the wedding breakfast, they had a slap-up meal, and it was loved by all the guests. After the wedding breakfast the band started up, then everyone hit the dancefloor.
Ash and I have shared our most enjoyable moments together out in the English countryside so it seemed quite obvious to us that we wanted to celebrate our wedding with our closest family and friends whilst feeling immersed in nature. We chose to have a tipi to create a relaxed vibe and because we felt it was in keeping with our neutral styling choice. We went with a neutral colour scheme of sage greens, neutrals, and greys to compliment the countryside setting and gave it a rustic feel with the decor. Ash and I spent hours designing, building and creating the decor we used. We painted ladders, made fire pits, easels, blackboards and even created our chandelier centerpiece. It was such an incredible feeling to gaze round the tipi on our wedding day and know that we created everything within it. almost!
We couldn’t discuss our decor and theme without giving credit to our family; Ash’s mum made 150 (!!) meters of bunting and my Dad spent hours labouring over the rustic wooden logs we used as centerpieces. Our advice for your wedding would be:- Have fun creating your wedding together! we made so many memories whilst designing and styling our wedding together.- Pinterest was our best friend whilst coming up with styling ideas!- This is your wedding. do what makes you happy.
