MY APPROACH

My Approach to Weddings

Weddings are wild, emotional, unpredictable things—and that’s exactly why I love them. My approach is relaxed, documentary, and totally unobtrusive. I won’t stage or direct your day. I’ll just quietly blend in, observing everything, ready to catch the real story as it naturally unfolds.

From the nervous giggles in the morning to the chaos on the dancefloor, I’m there for the honest, fleeting, beautiful moments that make your wedding yours.

Before It All Kicks Off

I always aim to photograph both of you in the morning, wherever you’re getting ready. These early hours are full of quiet nerves, laughter with friends, and little moments you might not even notice at the time. It’s a gentle, honest start to the story of your day—and I love capturing that energy without interrupting it.

Candid & Considered

My style is completely documentary. I don’t hide behind pillars or pretend I’m not there—but I’m also never in the way. I move with the rhythm of the day, respectful of the space around me, keeping an eye out for genuine moments between people. You’ll hardly notice me, but I’ll be everywhere I need to be.

Easygoing Groups

Group shots don’t have to be painful. I keep things light, fast, and easy, so you can spend more time hugging your guests and less time standing in a line. We’ll work from a pre-organised list so nothing gets missed, but the vibe is always relaxed, never forced and generally wrapped up in 15 mins.

Portraits With Breathing Room

Instead of one long session, I like to split portraits into two short, pressure-free parts: one during daylight, and another around sunset. It gives the day a nice rhythm and lets you actually enjoy being together for those ten-minute windows, without feeling like you’ve left your own wedding.

Emily & James

E&J kindly left me this wonderful review and I feel it sums my role perfectly “From start to finish, he was more than a photographer, he truly got involved in our wedding day and felt like a friend! I am not natural in front of a camera but he somehow managed to capture the most beautiful, candid moments filled with real emotion. Ever photo fills alive and authentic, not staged and they bring back all the joy of our wedding every time we look at them. His talent, energy and ability to put us at ease made all the difference.”

Stayin’ Late, Dancin’ Hard

I never leave after the first dance—some of my favourite images happen long after the formalities are done. When the ties come off, the shoes come off, and the moves come out, that’s when the real party starts. I’ll be in the heart of it, camera in hand, making sure that energy is remembered forever.

What Does ‘Documentary’ Really Mean?

It means I don’t ask anyone to pose or pretend. I don’t interfere with what’s happening—I just stay present, watching for the real stuff. Documentary photography is about truth, feeling, and timing. It’s about capturing the kind of moments that can’t be staged.
I’m not here to make your day look perfect—I’m here to show it as it was, which is always far better.

The Atmosphere, The Energy, The Feeling

Photos shouldn’t just remind you what your day looked like—they should bring you right back to how it felt. The nerves in your stomach before walking down the aisle. The sun-warm skin of an outdoor ceremony. The sound of glasses clinking and guests roaring with laughter. I work hard to capture not just the visuals, but the soul of your wedding. So when you look back, you don’t just see it—you feel it.

What You Won’t Get

I’m not the right fit for everyone, and that’s a good thing. Here’s what I don’t do:
❌ Love heart group shots
❌ Two-hour portrait sessions
❌ Forced smiles and “say cheese”
❌ Shouting at guests to behave
❌ Re-staging anything that’s already happened
If you want a photographer who lets your day breathe, keeps things calm, and documents it all honestly—that’s where I come in.

Let’s Keep It Simple

No awkward posing, no stiff timelines, no stress. Just you two, your people, and your story told honestly from start to finish. That’s how I work. If that sounds like the kind of wedding photography you’re after, we might just be a perfect fit.
